One of our favorite birthday card creations: The Ultimate Fun and Games Mermaid Happy Birthday Card

 While looking for birthday cards to add to our Girls Mermaid Birthday Party board at Pinterest we discovered that there were a few cool Happy Birthday cards, but not that many.  We set out to create the best possible card we could... and this is the card we came up with.

The card is a tri-fold card and is designed from the front cover to the back cover.  This is not a card that has a nice image on the cover and on the inside, it's all white.  It is filled with fun images and games.  But, before we get to what is inside, we want you to know that this card is able to be personalized in a few different ways.  

    First, you get to add the birthday girls name to the card.  You get to see how it looks on screen before you add it to your cart.  Her name will appear on the cover, in the list of words to find in the word find, on the coloring page, and in the birthday message box.  

    Second, you get to add her age and it appears throughout the card in different ways.  Her age is also part of the ispy type game on the back of the card.

    Third, you add the letters of her name individually and they appear inside the word find for her to find.  How cool is that!

    And lastly, you can keep the birthday message, change it, or delete it.  Notice that there is room for a hand written note as the birthday message fold is designed.

Lets look at the card fold by fold:

Cover:

The cover features a cute pink haired mermaid holding her hands in front as she swims out in front of her castle with the fish, seahorse and crabs.  Above her head, in purple script, are the words "Happy Birthday"  Below her in the sand is a text template field where you enter the birthday girls name and it appears in place of the displayed name "Amanda."  If you look closely in the sand, you will see a number.  That number is the birthday girls age.  You will be promoted to add the birthday child's age to the card and it will appear in place of the number 7 that you see in the sand.  This is a very cute and inviting cover for a birthday card.

Inner Left Fold:  The Word Find Activity:

Right off the bat the birthday girl sees that this card is like no other she has ever received.  The inner right flap greets her with an "Under the Sea Word Find" activity.  This fold is full of fun graphics that put this game on the sea floor.  In the list of words to find, at number 5, is her name!  In the word find itself, her name starts at row 2, column 2 and continues horizontally to the right.  This design can accommodate names up to 9 letters long.  There are 17 other ocean life words for her to find too!

In the background her age appears in a repeating pattern.  It also appears on the pink seashell under word number 12.

Center Inner Fold:  The Birthday Wish Fold

Once again there name of the birthday girl appears above the birthday wish we created.  You can keep that wish, change it or delete it as you wish.  Notice that there is room for a hand written note underneath. 

The rest of the fold is full of sea creatures, mermaids, seaweed and part of a sand castle.  Again, her age is floating through the background and it appears on the two star fish at the top of the card.

Inner Right Fold:  An Amazing Maze:

This fold is filled with sea creatures, a sand castle and mermaids that all surround a maze.  The maze is the second activity or game that is included in this card.  It is a semi easy maze and should be appropriate for kids 7 - 11.

You will notice that the birthday child's age is floating in the background again and it appears on the seashell at the bottom of the page.

 

 

Here is a look at the card when it is opened:

Wow!  That looks like so much fun!  Look at all the fish, crabs, seaweed, and mermaids!  There is an entire scene that has been created around the games and message box.  Amazing!

The inner Flap / Back Left Fold: A mermaid themed coloring page

When the card is first opened the birthday girl will see this next to the word find.  When she flips this open it reveals the birthday message and maze folds.  

 What a fun coloring page to color.  It has mermaids, sea creatures and a castle!  You will notice her name appears under the words "Color Me."  Her age appears in the sand and on one of the seashells too.

This fold is sure to be a hit and one that she will enjoy coloring!

 

And the last fold of the card is the back fold or back /center fold:  A How Many Can You Find Game:

The under water scene continues in this fold where we find more sea creatures and mermaids.  There are a few stars and seashells thrown in the mix too.  All this surrounds a How Many Can You Find Game that encourages the birthday girl to go back through the card to find an count certain things.  

Her age is included in the game, in the sand again and in one of the stars.

And here is a view of the other side of the card laid out:

What a cute card!  It won't take place of a child's desire to open all their gifts, but it a card that will be played with after opening.  It will not end up sitting on a shelf or tossed in the trash.  In fact, it will probably give you about an hour to clean up after the party while she explores and plays with this card.
